How to get the most out of this course
Welcome to the course! If you have questions or comments, you can write them in the comment areas after each lesson. Looking forwards to hearing from you. :)
This is probably the most important point: Watch the videos multiple times. Let's not forget that repetition is the mother of skill. You will also get used to the pronunciation. Kids often watch the same videos over and over again too.
You don't have to all of the things below, but they may help. (Tips from an experienced language learner)
– Repeat out loud what you hear in the videos. This will fire up more areas of your brain and the language sinks in faster.
– Believe that you are good at language learning.
– Write down the sentences that seem useful into a notebook. Revise the notes in a certain place, for example in the morning when you eat breakfast.
– Study at least a little every day. Even if it's 5 minutes. Over time it makes a huge difference. It may help to have a Finnish book or a comic somewhere clearly visible, so you are reminded about it every day. Use it at least right before you go to bed.
– Think about situations in your own life where you could use the phrases in this course. You can also try changing them so they suit your own life. You can write your version in the comments and I can correct them if there area mistakes. Or show them to a Finnish friend or a colleague. Or try chatting with Finns (in the HelloTalk or Tandem apps for example). When the language gets more connected to your own life, you will remember the words better.
The videos below can be useful. The first is from my own Youtube channel. The second one was made by someone else. I recommend you check out the selection of other videos from the same channels.
